Rachel Bourgon is a new Canadian artist who conveys a fondness for living beings in her lively, original oil paintings
of realism style. Having been a Registered Veterinary Technologist since 1998, Rachel exudes a natural passion for animal
subjects. Rachel has always possessed artistic skill, but she is primarily a self-taught artist since she pursued her
career in science. In life and in art, Rachel carries out her lifelong urge to protect all living things.

Rachel lives with her husband, Shane, who has been her biggest supporter in her quest to gain recognition
for her talent. Together, they enjoy attending DIRT racing events in Summer. When she is not nursing animals at
work, Rachel paints in her home studio in the company of her 3 dogs and 2 cats. Rachel is an AVID gardener, so she has
a fondness for flowers and gardens in art. She also enjoys painting cars and human portraits.
Rachel has participated in several juried events since starting her business in 2004. Some of these
include the Cornwall Regional Art Gallery Juried Winter Exhibits, a permanent exhibit at Logan's Gallery & Gifts
and at Sue's Gallery in Cornwall, Art In the Park in Wasaga Beach, Art On the Farm in Ottawa and several county fairs and
community events. Rachel's original work has also been represented by Agora Gallery in New York City
SoHo District. Rachel's work has recently earned her a solo exhibition at the Cornwall Regional Art Gallery in November
2005 and at le centre culturel Les trois p'tits points in Alexandria for March 2006.
Are You Gwen?
I am not Gwen. Gwendoline is the name of my favourite flower in the Sweet Pea family (Larythus sp.).
It is huge (as far as sweet peas come), easy to grow, makes an excellent cut flower, obscenely fragrant and best of all
it's pink! Most importantly, Gwendolyn is my new little
niece, named for her Auntie's art!
